The LA Lakers may add another free agent to their roster, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The team reached an agreement with Dion Waiters on Thursday, yet they have the option to waive him if this does not work out.

At the same time, as Charania reports, the Lakers could sign another free agent, this time a sharpshooter, with JR Smith being the main candidate to join the squad.

Smith worked out with the Lakers on Monday, yet the talks between the two sides are still ongoing. Another decent option for the multiple time NBA champions is Jamal Crawford, who will not sign with the Boston Celtics.

“The Lakers are still holding out the option to potentially add a shooter down the line. They worked out J.R. Smith as well on Monday, but in Waiters, there’s some familiarity. Rob Pelinka was his agent prior to Waiters joining the Lakers in the front office,” Charania says.

With less than 22 games to go in the regular season, it seems the Lakers (47-13) are trying to bolster their roster in the best way possible in order to be ready for the playoffs.
