The domestic leagues around Europe have now begun, let’s see what happening as TalkBasket looks to update you every month.

Spain

They might have beaten Dallas Mavericks comfortably and got their Euroleague campaign off to a winning start, but Barcelona are 1-2 in the Liga Endesa thus far. Xavi Pascual’s men finally got off the mark with a 87-68 home win over Murcia after surprise losses to Gescrap Bilbao and Valladolid. They currently sit in 11th place in the league standings, definitely unfamilar territory for them.

Real Madrid are having no such troubles so far, they’re 3-0 after destroying bottom side Fuenlabrada 100-79 in the Spanish capital as Felipe Reyes enjoyed a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Madrid are currently one of four teams at the top of the Liga Endesa on 3-0 records, they include Estudiantes, surprise package Obradoiro and Valencia.

France

ASVEL, Gravelines, Le Havre and Paris-Levallois are all sitting pretty at the top of the Pro-A league after round two was completed last weekend. ASVEL enjoyed a 80-73 home win over Boulazac, who are yet to get off the mark this season, Gravelines were 72-54 victors on the road against Dijon, Le Havre beat Nanterre 90-79 at home and Paris-Levallois prevailed over Le Mans 88-87 in a classic match as 24 points from both Sean May and Antoine Diot helped Paris to the win.

Elan Chalon have started 1-1; after an opening day loss to ASVEL, they immediately bounced back to beat Poitiers on the road 83-79. The Euroleague side are currently seventh.

Russia

CSKA Moscow are top of the Russian league after a 77-52 win at home over bottom side Enisey, they are currently 2-0 as they already look set to reclaim their Russian crown which has remained in the CSKA cabinet for the past 10 years.

The closest challengers to CSKA, BC Khimki didn’t play this weekend, but are 1-0 after a narrow 76-72 home win over Triumph.

Germany

Bayreuth are currently 4-0 but have played a game more than Brose Baskets and two games more than Alba Berlin so far in the Beko Bundesliga. They were successful against Ludwigsburg 94-82 over the weekend which, in turn handed the yellows of Ludwigsburg their first loss of the season.

Alba Berlin kept their good run going, leaving Italy with a win over Montepaschi Siena in the Euroleague and following that up with a comfortable 109-67 win over a helpless Phoenix Hagen side as they went 2-0 over the weekend. German international Heiko Schaffartzik led the Berliners with 19 points. Phoenix Hagen are now 2-2.

Brose Baskets suffered their first defeat of the season last weekend, going down 78-72 away to Artland Dragons. Despite the loss, they remain in fourth behind Alba, second place Ratiopharm and top place Bayreuth.

Italy

Despite losing at home at mid-week to Alba Berlin, Montepaschi Siena are 2-0 in the Italian league as they look to keep their continued dominance in this competition going. They travel to third place Cimberio Varese tonight, who are also undefeated at 2-0.

First placed Banco di Sardegna improved to 3-0 after they beat Euroleague side Cantu 65-64. they are joined at top spot by megabucks side Virtus Bologna who won on Saturday, 80-73 on the road against Montegranaro.

Turkey

The TBL started over the weekend as Besiktas narrowly defeated Turk Telekom 61-60. Curtis Jerells and Gasper Vidmar led the black and whites with 14 points each.

There was a comfortable win on the road for Galatasaray, as they thumped Antalya 93-57 and league favourites Fenerbahce opened their season with an 83-78 win over Erdemirspor Eregli.
