Los Angeles Lakers newest star Dwight Howard has reportedly spent a whopping $20million on a new mansion on Newport Beach.

Howard, who was acquired in a four-team blockbuster trade involving Andrew Bynum and Andre Iguodala among others seems to be settling into his new life in LA rather well following his move from Orlando Magic.

He even paid for it in full, dropping the entire amount with a cheque.

The 6’11 centre will be living a few doors away from team-mate Kobe Bryant, who is normally a very reserved and private man, off-court.

Mikedup Radio’s own Mike Gabriel, who is based in Los Angeles even Tweeted: “So, Dwight Howard just purchased a home in LA, for nearly $20million……and wrote a check for the house. #Boss #Lakers.”

While on the subject of mansions, former Atlanta Hawks shooting guard Joe Johnson is selling his home for $4.7million.

Johnson, who has now signed a deal to play for the Brooklyn Nets is selling his 13,822 square foot Atlanta pad, complete with eight bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a weight room, a recording studio, a basement spa and a barber shop.
