San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich is the man responsible for making a lot of journalists and television reporters nervous, sweaty and small.
Veteran TNT reporter Craig Sager is somewhat different though. He jokes around with Popovich and the chemistry the two have makes for fantastic television. Whether it’s in-season or even pre-season.
But this was a heartfelt moment for the legendary NBA coach. Sager is currently battling acute myeloid leukemia and will miss the NBA Playoffs this year. His son, Atlanta-based sports journalist, Craig Sager Jr filled in for the Spurs’ opening match of the post-season against the Dallas Mavericks – and the youngster was given an interview opportunity with his father’s most famous interviewee.
What followed was an act of pure class from the San Antonio playcaller.
