The Czech Republic finished their group games at the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Ankara with a second win against Argentina 68-54.

Petra Kulichova showed why she is one of the most experinced and important players in the team, having played at major tournaments for her country for seven years after initially making her debut at the 2004 Olympics. She finished the game with a double-double digits of  16 points and 20 rebounds. Alena Hanusova (13), Hana Horakova (11)  and Eleonora Elhotova (10 points) all contributed well for the victors.

Argentina were led by Melisa Gretter with 13 and Paula Reggiardo with 12 points.

Czech Republic dominated from tip to buzzer. They led at half-time 30-22  and after a strong third quarter the team gained a lead of 23 points. Czechs continued to dominate and came to an easy victory at the final 68-54 without any tension.

Both teams now rest tomorrow before Friday’s quarter-finals as they both look to book a place in London at the end of the month.
