This year’s Euroleague Women is expected to bring in record numbers as the Final Eight draws near.

Pre-sales have smashed though the 8,000 barrier and with last minute sales expected as well, this year’s tournament could rise even further.

The previous record was set two years ago in Valencia when 7,800 fans desended upon the Pabellon Municipal Fuente de San Luis, which is the home of Ros Casares.

Tonight’s encounter between bitter rivals Fenerbahce and Galatasaray is expected to draw over 8,000 to the 12,500-seat Abdi Ipekci Arena in Istanbul.

If tonight’s attendence record is broken, it’ll be a glorious double for this year’s basketball capital as over 7,000 watched home town club Kayseri face Russian side Dynamo Kursk in the recent Eurocup Women finals.

Just down the road from the Abdi Ipekci is the Sinan Erdem Dome, which will host the Euroleague Final Four in early May. Ankara will also be busy, as it will host the Olympic Additional Qualifiers for Women in the last week of June.
