Anthony Davis has decided to decline a max extension offer from the LA Lakers, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

Davis rejected the offer (four-year max extension), because he wants to become an unrestricted free agent in the offseason. However, it is not likely he will leave the Lakers.

The decision to decline the extension was made solely out of salary-cap implications and because Davis wants to focus on the 2019-20 campaign, Haynes writes.

The big man of the Lakers holds a $28.7 million player option for the 2020-21 season that he is expected to decline.

Davis is averaging 27.7 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.6 blocks and 1.5 steals, while the Lakers are at 29-7.
