The Miami Heat are targeting a Feb. 22 jersey retirement for Dwyane Wade’s iconic No. 3 jersey.
Unlike the Heat’s previous jersey retirements, the team is preparing for a more reserved ceremony at that game, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
The organization has plans for a celebration of Wade the night before, when the Heat are off on Feb. 21, after returning from a Feb. 20 game in Atlanta.
Wade’s No. 3 jersey will become the fifth Heat player jersey retired, joining No. 1 Chris Bosh, No. 10 Tim Hardaway, No. 32 Shaquille O’Neal and No. 33 Alonzo Mourning.
Wade retired as the franchise’s all-time leading scorer and won three championships in 2006, 2012 and 2013.
