The Ciutat de L’Hospitalet Tournament, one of the most prestigious junior tournaments in Europe, has tipped off its 33rd edition on Wednesday as five Spanish clubs and three junior teams from abroad have gathered in L’Hospitalet, a suburb of Barcelona.

The winner of the tournament will win the second ticket to the 10th edition of the Nike International Junior Tournament that will take place during the 2012 Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four weekend in Istanbul, Turkey.

KK Zagreb won the first ticket last week when it was victorious at the Citta di Roma Tournament. In the first game of the tournament, Real Madrid used a final 3-16 run to down hosts CB L’Hospitalet 64-76 in Group A behind 20 points and 10 rebounds from Guillermo Hernangomez.

Joventut Badalona outlasted Lietuvos Rytas by 65-64 after final free throws by Gerard Gomila.

Underway now, KK Spars faces Cedevita in Group B; while Cajasol goes against FC Barcelona Regal at 16:00 CET. Group A action resumes at 18:00 CET when Madrid faces Joventut. At 20:00 CET, L’Hospitalet hosts L. Rytas to finish a busy day.
