Yotan Halperin has gone back on his own word regarding his deal with Maccabi Tel Aviv.

The deal was broken off due to heavy taxation in Israel for Israel athletes coming back from playing abroad. The player tried to negotiate his situation with the tax authorities, but his bid was unsuccessful.

Maccabi TA issued a statement according to which the club regrets for the current development but accepts it.

The Israel international will now look for another team outside Israel to continue his career. Chances are that his former team Olympiacos will contact him, but he would have to take a generous paycut in order for a deal to be reached.
