Forward Carmelo Anthony has signed a prorated one-year, $2.2 million non-guaranteed contract with the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday. Blazers’ Damian Lillard approved of Melo signing:

“I believe he can help us. Obviously I’d like to see our early-season struggles turn around, and hopefully we can be part of a great bounceback for Melo as well,” Lillard told ESPN’s Rachel Nichols.

Last season, Anthony appeared in 10 games for the Houston Rockets before he was traded to the Chicago Bulls. On February 1, the future Hall of Famer was waived by the franchise.

As a Rocket, the 35-year-old averaged 13.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 0.5 assists per game, while shooting at 40.5% from the field and 32.8% from three.
