Lithuanian champions Zalgiris Kaunas will have more ambitions next season in Euroleague after signing Robertas Javtokas from Power Electronics Valencia.

Javtokas signed 2+1-year contract which will keep him at the club until at least the summer of 2013. Zalgiris will have the option to extend the contract for one more year.

31-year-old center is a regular member of Lithuanian national team. He grew with Lietuvos Rytas, the arch rival of Zalgiris.

During his cub career Javtokas played for Lietuvos Rytas, Panathinaikos, Dynamo Moscow, Khimki and Valencia.

Javtokas was also a member of Euroleague-winning Panathinaikos squad in 2007, though his minutes on the court were very limited.

The player himself told to the media that he is delighted to return home with his family. Javtokas was also to re-join with some of his teammates in Lithuanian national team.

In fact, currently there are five players on Zalgiris roster that represented Lithuania in FIBA World Championship in Turkey last summer.

Before 2010/11 Euroleague season Zalgiris had ambitions of reaching quarter-finals. However, the dreams of attaining that goal faded away in the Top 16 round.

Zalgiris will also monitor situation on the other side of the Atlantic and will try to take advantage of NBA lock-out in case it occurs.
