Lithuanian Basketball Federation (LKF) has set the goals for the men’s national team in the upcoming EuroBasket 2011. The team is expected to reach the final and get a direct qualification for London Olympics.

Although local fans are dreaming about gold since Lithuania was awarded the right to host the tournament in 2004, LKF will settle for silver as it will ensure that Lithuania will participate in Olympic Games for the 5th time in a row since regaining independence in 1990.

There was also a minimum goal decided by LKF which is to finish among the top six teams in EuroBasket since the 3rd-6th placed teams will earn a right to compete in Olympic Qualifying Tournament which will take place prior London Olympic Games.

Lithuania has been drawn in ‘a group of death’ alongside reigning champions Spain, Turkey, Great Britain, Poland and Qualifier 2.
