John Wall is humble when speaking about his impact on the NBA. The Washington Wizards superstar spoke with Michael Lee of The Athletic on various topics, including his future in the NBA.

“If John Wall retires tomorrow, the NBA is going to keep going on. I ain’t God. But I’m doing what I can while I’m here (and) I can’t wait to get back. I got a lot of fire in my belly,” said Wall.

In July 2017 Wall signed his $170 million, four-year contract extension with the Wizards. In December 2018 Wall was ruled out for the rest of the season with a left heel injury.

After initially undergoing season-ending surgery on his left heel in January 2019, Wall developed an infection in the incision from that surgery, then suffered a ruptured left Achilles tendon when he slipped and fell in his home. He was subsequently ruled out for 12 months.
