Although included in the Italy national team preliminary list, Shaun Stonerook will not play nor make his debut for the "Azurri" this year. The naturalized Italian born in the United States has the need to rest this summer and already feels old for playing tournaments outside the normal season.
It is still not known if the 32-year-old Siena player will ever play for Italy. Veterean Massimo Bulleri will also turn down the possibility to play Eurobasket 2009 due to personal reasons.
