Great BritainBasketball is not going to be forgotten in Great Britain after 2012 Olympic Games in London. A new program named ‘T16’ has already been created. It focuses towards 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, hence the name of the program. Both men and women national teams are expected to qualify for 2016 Olympics. T16 also includes plans to develop new talent in Great Britain but that’s not all.

Chris Spice, who is a director of British Basketball Performance, stated that he would love to bring Eurobasket 2015 to Great Britain. The country has already the facilities needed for such a major event and it seems that financial support won’t be a big problem either.

In case Great Britain hosts Eurobasket 2015, the national team could potentially play in four straight Eurobasket tournaments starting with 2009.

Great Britain national team will play in Eurobasket 2011 qualifying round later this summer. They will take on Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, FYROM and Ukraine in Group B.
