Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul added another weapon to its forces by signing playmaker Leo Westermann, who will join forces with his countryman Nando De Colo in the backcourt.

The sides agreed to a two-year contract. Westermann (1.98 meters, 26 years old) arrives from Zalgiris Kaunas, where he averaged 6.4 points and 2.8 assists over 27 EuroLeague games last season. It was his seventh EuroLeague campaign and Fenerbahce will be his fifth EuroLeague squad.

Westermann came through the youth ranks at the prestigious INSEP academy before beginning his professional career with ASVEL Villeurbanne. He debuted in the EuroLeague with Partizan Belgrade in 2012, but after a successful first season, his career was derailed by a knee injury. He returned home to France and made his return to action with Limoges CSP.

Westermann then spent a season with Zalgiris, another with CSKA Moscow and returned to Zalgiris last season. He has won six domestic league championships with four different teams during his career. Westermann has also tasted success with the French national team; he was on France’s bronze-medal winning squad at EuroBasket 2015.
