Panathinaikos took to Twitter on Saturday (22/06) and officially announced the departure of head coach Rick Pitino.
The “Greens” confirmed the end of their collaboration with the 66-year-old Hall of Famer and thanked him for his presence in the club.
“Panathinaikos BC OPAP would like to thank Mr. Rick Pitino for his excellent cooperation and wishes him every success in his life and in his career.
Rick Pitino is one more outstanding personality of world sport who is part of Panathinaikos history, an amazing person and coach who honored with his presence both Greek and European basketball.
The American Hall Of Famer is and will always remain a friend! Thank you for everything, coach!,” the “Greens” said in an official statement.
Pitino led the team to the Greek League championship and the Greek Cup.
