British international power forward/center Pops Mensah-Bonsu has been released by the Houston Rockets, just less than a month since the NBA season tipped off.

Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey said that although the team is satisfied with the player they had to let him go since he did not fit the coach plans and they needed to make space in their roster in case they call a player from their D-League team, Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

It is unknown whether Mensah-Bonsu will remain in the United States to try and find another contract in NBA, move to the D-League or return to Europe.

Last time he played in Euroleague he averaged 18.5 ppg and 11.5 rpg in just two games but was later released because of an injury.

In the last Eurobasket he averaged 12.2 points per game and 10.8 rebounds per game.
