Leicester Riders  The Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders will be playing against the Birmingham A's, in a pre-season exhibition game on Saturday 12th September. The game will be played at Joseph Chamberlain College Sports Centre, tipping off at 6pm.

Fronted by Nigel Hanson and Steven Hansell, the Birmingham A's are currently in division two of the English Basketball League, finishing fourth last season, and the game promises to be an excellent showcase of British Basketball.

Head Coach Rob Paternostro, who was voted Molten BBL Coach of the Year for 2008, has managed to recruit Americans Jason Johnson, a 6'8''forward from South Carolina State University and Tack Minor, a formidable point guard from Louisiana State University for the upcoming season. American captain Lataryl Williams played with Coach Paternostro and new signing Adam Williams, at the Birmingham Panthers in 2007/8 and Adam Williams also featured for the Birmingham Bullets alongside Riders' 6'10'' Centre Barry Lamble, meaning that several of the Riders players will be returning to Birmingham this weekend.

The game is a promotion of the government-recognized 'Hoops4Health' scheme, as both clubs have been working in partnership with the BBL in order to deliver the programme to schools, advocating a healthy living, sports-based education to young people.

Tickets are available on the door, with live halftime entertainment featuring the A's urban dance crew.

For the Riders, the game is preparation not only for league action, which starts on Saturday 26th September, but for the two pre-season games at the John Sandford Sports Centre on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th September, against the Derby Trailblazers and USA Select respectively. The games tip off at 7.30pm, and fans can take advantage of a 2 for 1 ticket offer for these two games, entry to both therefore being just £11 for adults and £7 for concessions.
