Two LKL teams from Kaunas could merge and create a new club, reports lrytas.lt. Kaunas and Aisciai are both formed mainly of young players. Since both clubs are growing young players in order to sell them at a good price in future consensus was reached that it is the best interest for both parties to join forces.
Kaunas finished 6th in LKL last season while Aisciai were 8th but managed to reach the Final Four of Lithuanian Cup. The new team ishoping to be among the top four teams in LKL next season.
It is expected that the budget of the team should be above 300.000 euros. Lithuania national team head coach Ramunas Butautas is mentioned as the main candidate to be the head coach.
