Two free throws from Luigi Datome, with seven seconds to go, helped Fenerbahce edge Baskonia on the road (72-74).
The Basques had the chance to win the game, but missed three straight three-pointers, with 20 seconds remaining. In addition, Matt Janning was called for an unsportsmanlike foul and gave the Turks the chance to seal the deal.
Overall, it was a close derby between the two teams, as neither the hosts nor the visitors could take a significant advantage (20-18, 33-33, 55-48).
Yet, Fenerbahce stood tall and closed the game in a 17-26 run to escape from the “Fernando Bueso Arena” with a big victory.
Datome and Joffrey Lauvergne were the best players for the winners, with 16 and 15 points, respectively.
On the other hand, Ilimane Diop had a game-high 17 points for the losing squad, along with six rebounds. Tornike Shengelia posted 15 points and five boards.
Fenerbahce were victorious for the fifth time this season (5-1), whereas Baskonia suffered their fourth defeat in the competition (2-4).
