Ahead of the first “Pavlos Giannakopoulos Tournament” (27-28 September), Panathinaikos hosted a gala to honour the legendary owner, who died a few months ago.

Many familiar faces, including Fenerbahce head coach, Zeljko Obradovic, and EuroLeague CEO, Jordi Bertomeu, were present in the gala.

Moreover, Panathinaikos team also showed up, along with players and executives from Fenerbahce, Maccabi Tel-Aviv and Khimki.

The aforementioned teams will participate in the tournament, which will take place in front of a sold-out crowd at the “Greens” home court tomorrow and on Friday.

Fenerbahce will face Maccabi Tel-Aviv in the first game of the tournament. After the end of the game, Panathinaikos will present their anniversary jerseys, as this season marks the 100th anniversary since the club was originally founded.

Later, the “Greens” will honour the late Pavlos Giannakopoulos, as his banner will be raised to the rafters of the stadium.

Panathinaikos will face Khimki in the second game of the tournament.
