Just like Vassilis Spanoulis, Pau Gasol took to Instagram to praise Juan Carlos Navarro for his legendary career, as the 38-year-old guard decided to retire on Friday.

The two-time NBA champion said: “What you have done and given to the game of basketball cannot be expressed with words. THANK YOU. Even in capital letters, it is not enough to show you my appreciation and what you mean to all of us who love this sport. It was more than an honor to grow up next to you all of these years, and I’m sure that whatever you decide to do in the future will be special. Thank you, Navarro.”

Gasol and Navarro are close friends and were teammates in Barcelona, the Memphis Grizzlies and the national team of Spain.

#GraciasNavarro #GràciesNavarro What you have done and given to the game of Basketball cannot be expressed with words. ‘THANK YOU’, even written in capital letters, is not enough to appreciate how much you mean to all of us who love this sport, especially to me. It has been more than an honor to grow with you all these years and I’m sure that whatever comes next you will make it extraordinary. #ThankYouNavarro
