Athens is being touted as the favourite to host the Basketball Champions League Final Four.

This comes as the participants for the second annual event was confirmed tonight.

Monaco booked the first spot on Tuesday with AEK Athens, Ludwigsburg and UCAM Murcia joining them earlier tonight.

The Final Four, which has so far been staged with one of the four teams “hosting” takes place on the weekend of May 4-6. The destination of the event will be revealed on Thursday.

The reported venue, which was first broken by Eurohoops has a solid case among the other three as the OAKA seats over 18,000 spectators, which is considerably larger than the other three arenas.

The OAKA, which last staged a major event back in 2007 with the EuroLeague Final Four is one of the more state-of-the-art venues as well.
