Panathinaikos have relieved guard Nick Calathes of team captaincy and punished James Gist, Chris Singleton and KC Rivers following an incident during their pre-season trip to Moscow.

The aforementioned players returned to their team hotel at 03:00, local Russian time, breaking the team’s curfew following their pre-season game against Khimki.

An undisclosed fine was imposed on all four players and it was also decided that Calathes would be stripped of his duties as team captain.

Calathes averaged 9.8 points, 5.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds a game in the EuroLeague last season, starting all 33 games for the Athens-side.
