Devin Smith, who starred for Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv for the last six years, has announced his retirement at the age of 34.

Smith spent the last six years playing with the Maccabi, tying Kevin Magee and Nikola Vujcic for the second longest tenure with the Israeli giants.

He helped his team win the 2014 EuroLeague crown, the 2012 and 2014 Israeli League titles, the 2012 Adriatic championship, plus the Israeli Cup six times, from 2012 to 2017.

“Although I wish to continue playing for Maccabi fans and wearing the Yellow jersey, I’m sorry to say that my body and heart no longer agree,” said Smith in a heartfelt message to his fans.

“Although my heart wants to continue to play for all of you, my body will no longer allow me to play professionally and continue as a Maccabi player.”

Smith also played for San Sebastian, Avellino, Fenerbahce, Panellinions and Benetton Treviso during his career before settling with Maccabi, where he enjoyed his more memorable years.
