According to various Turkish sources Darius Lavrinovic is close to signing for the Turkish champions Fenerbahce.

With both Omer Asik and Semih Erden heading to NBA this summer, Fenerbahce had a big gap to cover in the paint and moved fast for Lavrinovic. The Lithuanian center played for Real Madrid last season and although started the season in spectacular fashion he saw his role being limited with the return of Felipe Reyes.

Lavrinovic could miss the 2010 World Championship if he opts to have a surgery in the summer to fix an injury problem, but this doesn’t seem to bother Fenerbahce who want to invest in the player’s experience.
