Despite staying at Darussafaka Istanbul for next season, David Blatt is still keen on a return to the NBA.

Blatt is a potential target for the New York Knicks as their current coach Jeff Hornacek is under pressure to guide the struggling NBA side into the Playoffs this season.

And if he doesn’t, Blatt may well be in-line to succeed him.

Via New York Daily News:

Blatt, who has enjoyed tremendous success abroad, owns an impressive resume. No question about it. But you know the old saying, it’s not what you know, it’s who you know. And Blatt has connections with people in high places inside the Knicks front office, namely team president Steve Mills and newly hired front office executive Craig Robinson.

All three were teammates at Princeton under legendary coach Pete Carril and remain close. You can connect the dots from here.

“I have an end game and that end game is that I would really like to go back to the NBA,” Blatt told The Jerusalem Post last week.

“There were no changes in the NBA this year from a coaching standpoint and my real goal is to try next year to get back into the league as a head coach. It may happen and it may not happen. But I wanted to leave that door open for myself if the opportunity arises.”
