CSKA Moscow got deeper in the frontcourt on Monday by signing center Alan Makiev to a one-year contract.

Makiev (2.10 meters, 26 years old) arrives from Avtodor Saratov, where he has spent most of his career and put up 4.4 points and 2.9 rebounds over 15:35 minutes on average in 17 VTB United League games last season.

His numbers were similar, 3.5 points and 2.9 rebounds, in 13 7DAYS EuroCup games with Saratov in 2015-16. He has also played for Russian League clubs Rodniki Izhvesk, Iskut Irkutsk and Ryazan over the years.

“After Ivan Lazarev left, we wanted to replace him with another center,” CSKA head coach Dimitris Itoudis said. “This will be a different level for Alan, but we are looking for his contribution. He makes a step up in terms of basketball and the organization he plays for, and at the same time receives a great chance to grow professionally.”
