Gran Canaria have officially announced the signing of Great Britain international Luke Nelson.

This despite the news being revealed by Spanish outlet Gigantes in late-July and confirmed by Nelson himself on the 29th of the same month.

“I signed there because I felt like the club wanted to commit to me in the long run and that was important to me,” Nelson told British outlet Hoopsfix on July 29.

“Also, it’s a highly respected club, one that I would be honoured to represent.”

Nelson, a product of the Worthing Thunder juniors and then the Reading Rockets in England headed to UC Irvine where he spent four years.

In his senior year Nelson averaged 16.9 points per game, despite having missed half of the season through injury.

He is representing Great Britain for the first time this summer.
