The Eurobasket Women final is set with six spots for next year’s FIBA World Cup for Women also confirmed.

The two pre-tournament favourites Spain and France have lived up to their billing and and have reached the final but at the same time, have ended the dreams of two underdog nations who still have hopes to land a medal.

Spain got off to a quick start as they saw-off Belgium 68-52 in the first semi-final.

The Spaniards took a 20-11 lead after the first quarter and never looked back as the winners were led by Alba Torrens, who had a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds.

France set-up a 2013 Eurobasket Women Finals rematch with the Spaniards after they toppled Greece 77-55.

However the French made hard of their win, waiting until the fourth quarter to secure a birth in the final. Leading 52-47 heading into the final period, France were not out of the woods.

However, a convincing 25-8 fourth quarter was enough to put down the brave Greek resistance.

Endene Miyem led France with 13 points.

Earlier in the day, Latvia edged Italy 68-67 and Turkey stuffed Slovak Republic 72-56 to ensure top six finishes and thus qualify for next year’s FIBA World Cup for Women.
