Spanish Basketball Federation [FEB] president Jorge Garbajosa has expressed an interest in becoming one of co-hosts of Eurobasket 2021.

Garbajosa, who met with the Spanish media earlier this week stated that he is planning an application to host a group stage much like they have previously done in 2015 and indeed this summer, which is due to be hosted by Romania, Israel, Finland and Turkey, the latter of which will also house the tournament’s knockout stages.

Spain have successfully hosted the 2014 FIBA World Cup as well as many youth tournaments this year.

“In recent years European championships are held in several countries, we want to be one of them,” said Garbajosa.

Garbajosa is a 2008 Olympic silver medalist with Spain before retiring in 2012. He became FEB president on July 9.
