Zalgiris Kaunas guard Carsen Edwards has reportedly been caught driving while intoxicated in Kaunas, Lithuania, according to Krepsinis.net.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. Monday during a preventive police raid on Birstono Street. The Lithuanian Police Department confirmed the incident to Krepsinis.net, with its Communication Division head Ramunas Matonis providing details about the traffic stop.

“A Volkswagen Tiguan was stopped in Kaunas on Birstono Street at 12:30 a.m. during a preventive raid. It was driven by an intoxicated Zalgiris player. His blood alcohol level was measured at 1.07 per mille,” Matonis said, according to Krepsinis.net.

The reported incident came only a few hours after Edwards played for Zalgiris in the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL).

Zalgiris defeated Lietkabelis 97-68 on Sunday evening, with Edwards making an efficient contribution in 17 minutes. The American guard scored 11 points on 4-of-4 shooting and added six assists, finishing with 15 efficiency points.

Edwards is in his first season with Zalgiris after joining the Lithuanian club following the 2025-26 campaign with Virtus Bologna. Through three EuroLeague games this season, he is averaging 16.0 points, 1.0 rebound and 2.0 assists in 23.0 minutes per game.

He is shooting 37.0% from the field and 36.8% from three-point range in the EuroLeague, while Zalgiris has opened the competition with a 1-2 record.

The 28-year-old guard has been one of the more productive scorers in European basketball in recent seasons. He averaged 20.4 points per game for Bayern Munich in the 2024-25 EuroLeague season before moving to Virtus Bologna, where he averaged 17.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 36 EuroLeague appearances last season.

Edwards began his professional career in the NBA after being selected by the Boston Celtics with the 33rd overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. He also spent time with the Detroit Pistons before establishing himself in Europe.

At Purdue, Edwards developed into a prolific scorer, averaging 24.3 points per game as a junior during the 2018-19 season.

The reported traffic incident comes at the beginning of Edwards’ first season with Zalgiris. The club has yet to publicly comment on the report.
