Virtus Bologna made a major move on Friday by signing Carsen Edwards, the 2024–25 EuroLeague scoring leader and All-EuroLeague First Team guard, to bolster its backcourt for the upcoming season.

The 27-year-old guard arrives in Bologna after a remarkable campaign with Bayern Munich, where he averaged 20.4 points, 3.3 assists, and 1.0 steal over 35 games. His prolific shooting, highlighted by a league-best 2.9 three-pointers per game, helped him finish atop the EuroLeague’s full-season scoring chart following the playoffs.

Edwards also ranked 14th in performance index rating (PIR) at 16.7 and narrowly missed the Alphonso Ford Top Scorer Trophy after placing second in the regular season before claiming the top spot overall. His offensive production earned him a place on the All-EuroLeague First Team for the first time in his career.

The Purdue University product began his professional journey in the NBA with the Boston Celtics, before playing for the Detroit Pistons and stints in the G League with the Maine Red Claws and Salt Lake City Stars. He led the G League in scoring during the 2021–22 season with 26.7 points per game.

Edwards transitioned to the EuroLeague with Fenerbahce and then joined Bayern in 2023. His time in Munich was highlighted by a German League and Cup double in 2024, where he was named MVP of the playoff finals.

Virtus, which finished 17th in the EuroLeague last season with a 9–25 record, aims to climb the standings with Edwards leading the backcourt.
