Luka Doncic is preparing to take on more leadership responsibility as the Los Angeles Lakers begin their first season following LeBron James’ departure.
The Slovenian star discussed how his priorities have changed since the early stages of his NBA career.
“Probably the leadership role,” Doncic responded when asked what matters to him more now compared to five years ago.
Doncic added: “Trying to be a leader. Five years ago, I was [three years in] the league. I wasn’t the leader I was supposed to [be]. So, leadership is an important part in my case now.”
He averaged 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.5 assists in 28 games with the Lakers during the 2024-25 regular season.
Meanwhile, in 2025-26, he averaged 33.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 8.3 assists across 64 games.
