Dean Oliver ranks Jaylen Brown around No. 60

The Philadelphia 76ers forward Jaylen Brown was another notable player whose standing in Dean Oliver’s analytical evaluation differed sharply from ESPN’s panel rankings.

Members of ESPN’s panel placed Brown anywhere between No. 9 and No. 23 among NBA players. Oliver, however, said his model positioned Brown around No. 60.

Oliver argues that analytical systems can “provide a useful counter perspective to the humans, with their good eyes but occasional biases.”

Brown changed teams during the offseason after the Boston Celtics traded him to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Paul George and a first-round pick.
