AEK are considering veteran French guard Thomas Heurtel as they continue searching for another experienced option at point guard.
The Greek club has reportedly opened initial discussions with Heurtel, although the talks have not yet produced an agreement. The 37-year-old is said to be interested in the possibility of joining AEK.
A potential deal could become easier if Lukas Lekavicius receives a Greek passport, which would give AEK greater flexibility with its roster construction.
Head coach Dragan Sakota is looking to strengthen his backcourt with a proven player capable of providing leadership, experience and quality.
Heurtel has emerged as a candidate who meets those requirements.
The French guard has extensive EuroLeague experience, making 278 appearances over 12 seasons with Baskonia, Anadolu Efes, Barcelona, Real Madrid and ASVEL.
Heurtel most recently played 25 EuroLeague games for ASVEL during the 2025–26 campaign, averaging 9.2 points, 5.4 assists and 1.5 rebounds in fewer than 20 minutes per game.
