The Charlotte Hornets have signed guard Bez Mbeng after waiving Kobe Stewart and opening a spot on their 21-man offseason roster.
Mbeng went undrafted out of Yale in 2025 after earning Ivy League Player of the Year honors and winning the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year award for a third consecutive season.
The 6-foot-4 guard spent most of last season with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, averaging 6.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.9 steals across 41 G League appearances.
Mbeng later joined the Utah Jazz, initially on two 10-day contracts before receiving a rest-of-season deal.
In 15 NBA games, he averaged 8.1 points, 4.1 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 2.3 steals in 32.8 minutes per game.
Charlotte has recently added several players with the expectation that they could eventually play for the Greensboro Swarm.
Mbeng could be another, with his agreement likely structured as an Exhibit 10 contract.
If waived and then with Greensboro for at least 60 days, Mbeng could receive a bonus worth up to $91,000.
However, Sioux Falls still owns his G League returning rights, so Greensboro would first need to acquire them in a trade.
