Former NBA first-round pick Royce White says he plans to enter the 2027 WNBA Draft, claiming that he now identifies as transgender in an effort to challenge the league’s eligibility policies.

The 6-foot-8 former Houston Rockets draft pick follows Enes Kanter Freedom, another former NBA player who recently announced plans to declare for the WNBA Draft amid the ongoing debate surrounding transgender participation in women’s sports.

White told Fox News Digital that he believes his physical advantages would make him “unstoppable” in the WNBA. He also indicated that legal action could be an option if he is prevented from competing.

White said his announcement is intended to pressure the WNBA into providing a clear explanation of its rules governing transgender player eligibility.

“I’d like to know what the parameters are,” White said.
