Buddy Hield and the Hawks have agreed to push back the deadline for his contract guarantee, giving both sides additional time before a final decision is made on his future with the team.

Hield has a $9.7 million salary for next season, with $3 million already fully guaranteed.

Extending the guarantee date provides Atlanta with more flexibility as it continues evaluating its offseason roster moves.

The veteran guard joined the Hawks at the trade deadline after being acquired from the Warriors, but played in only seven games for Atlanta.

Before the trade, Hield appeared in 44 games with Golden State, averaging 8.0 points in 17.5 minutes per contest.

Now entering his age-32 season, Hield remains an experienced perimeter shooter whose status will continue to be monitored as the Hawks finalize their roster plans.
