The Hawks have decided to fully guarantee Buddy Hield’s $9.6 million salary for the 2026-27 season, keeping the veteran sharpshooter on the roster beyond his guarantee deadline.

Hield had previously been guaranteed $3 million, but Atlanta’s decision to retain him ensures his entire salary for next season is now locked in.

The Hawks acquired the 33-year-old at last season’s trade deadline as part of the deal that also brought Jonathan Kuminga to Atlanta while sending Kristaps Porzingis to the Warriors.

The payer made seven regular-season appearances for the Hawks before also seeing action in two playoff games.

Although Atlanta plans to keep Hield under contract, league sources indicate the team is exploring trade scenarios in which his salary could be used to help match incoming contracts.

Hield also holds a player option for the 2027-28 season, with $3.1 million already guaranteed if he chooses to exercise it.
