The Dallas Mavericks are reportedly keeping their options open as they prepare for the 2026 NBA Draft, with the franchise exploring scenarios that could see them either move up or, more likely, trade down from their current position.

According to Jake Fischer, Dallas has shown flexibility in draft discussions and is evaluating several possible outcomes involving the ninth overall pick.

One prospect who continues to draw attention from the Mavericks is Brayden Burries, with Fischer reporting that there is “mutual interest” between the player and the organization.

If Burries remains available when Dallas is on the clock, he could emerge as a strong candidate for the selection.

However, the team’s willingness to keep trading scenarios alive appears even greater if Burries is no longer available.

In that case, Dallas may look to move back in the draft and acquire additional assets while targeting prospects later in the first round.

Several teams are believed to be monitoring the situation closely. Fischer identifies the New Orleans Pelicans and Memphis Grizzlies as potential trade-up candidates.

New Orleans currently lacks a first-round pick and could look for a way back into the lottery, while Memphis owns the 16th overall selection and has a history of aggressive draft-night maneuvering.

The Grizzlies are particularly interesting because they also control the third overall pick.

Under longtime basketball operations executive Zach Kleiman, Memphis has consistently been one of the league’s most active teams during the first round, making them a potential factor in multiple draft-day scenarios as the event approaches.
