Quick notes on former/current NCAA guards.

  • Alex Wilkins (Furman) and Money Williams (Montana) were two guards at mid-majors that jumped out to me during 2025-26. Both have a chance to let more of the world know their names this upcoming season at larger schools, as Wilkins is heading to Kentucky and Williams will attend Boston College.
  • The potential was always there for Matt Able coming out of high school, and he showed it at the NBA Draft Combine. The soon-to-be 19-year-old has an important decision to make about playing at North Carolina or going to the NBA (transferring from NC State).
  • Former Division III standout Aaron Nkrumah has to be my favorite story from this year’s draft. He started his collegiate journey at Nichols College, but quickly left for Worcester State after the first semester and later transferred to Division I Tennessee State. And if earning MASCAC/OVC Player of the Year wasn’t enough, Nkrumah let NBA prospects and organizations know by his play at the combine that you’re only going to be hearing more from him in the future (strong performance during the G League Combine as a last-minute invite led to NBA Combine call-up following not getting a Portsmouth Invitational Tournament invite).
