The Minnesota Timberwolves were reportedly thrilled with the impact Ayo Dosunmu made after arriving before the trade deadline, and the team is now expected to focus on re-signing him this offseason.
Dosunmu quickly fit into Minnesota’s backcourt alongside Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo, providing strong perimeter defense, ball-handling, and versatility.
Keeping Dosunmu has become even more important after DiVincenzo suffered a torn Achilles tendon during the playoffs and is expected to miss most, if not all, of next season.
Minnesota could also experience additional changes in the backcourt this summer.
Veteran guard Mike Conley is reportedly considering retirement after 19 NBA seasons, while Bones Hyland enters free agency following what many viewed as a bounce-back season.
The Timberwolves are also expected to increase the role of Terrence Shannon Jr. next season, though Dosunmu is still viewed as the stronger primary ball-handler in the rotation.
