Mitch Johnson took what many considered a major risk during the San Antonio Spurs Game 3 matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves by keeping Victor Wembanyama on the court after the young superstar picked up his fifth foul with more than six minutes remaining.

Instead of playing cautiously, Wembanyama stayed aggressive on both ends of the floor and helped lead San Antonio to a seven-point victory and a crucial series advantage.

Johnson praised the impact his franchise star had throughout the game, especially defensively around the rim.

“He really imposed himself on the game,” Johnson said. “He established himself dominating the paint and rim on both ends.”

The coach also credited Wembanyama for handling physical play well and continuing to execute despite the pressure of foul trouble late in the game.
