The Memphis Grizzlies enter Wednesday’s matchup against the Denver Nuggets with one of the longest injury reports in the league, including star guard Ja Morant.
Memphis visits Denver on April 8 for the fourth meeting between the teams this season, but the Grizzlies will again be short-handed as multiple rotation players remain unavailable.
Morant is ruled out due to a left elbow UCL sprain. The point guard has averaged 19.5 points and 8.1 assists in 20 games this season, providing Memphis with its primary playmaking and transition offense when healthy.
The Grizzlies’ injury list stretches well beyond their leading guard. Memphis has 13 players listed on the report, including several frontcourt contributors.
Santi Aldama is out while recovering from right knee surgery. Aldama has averaged 14.0 points and 6.7 rebounds across 43 appearances this season.
Zach Edey also remains unavailable following surgery related to injuries to his left ankle and elbow. The 7-foot-4 center has averaged 13.6 points and 11.1 rebounds in 11 starts, providing Memphis with size in the paint when healthy. Brandon Clarke is out with a right calf strain, removing another frontcourt option from the rotation.
Wing depth is also affected. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is sidelined after surgery on his right fifth finger, while Jaylen Wells remains out following surgery on his right great toe. Wells appeared in 69 games and averaged 12.5 points before the injury.
Additional absences include Ty Jerome (left ankle sprain), Scotty Pippen Jr. (right great toe surgery recovery), GG Jackson (left knee soreness), Javon Small (left thigh contusion), and Cam Spencer (low back soreness).
Memphis also lists Jahmai Mashack as questionable while he remains in concussion protocol and deals with a nasal fracture. Olivier-Maxence Prosper is doubtful with right ankle soreness.
Denver’s injury report is significantly shorter. The Nuggets list two players out: Spencer Jones and Peyton Watson, both sidelined with right hamstring strains.
Denver continues to rely on its core led by Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. Jokic is averaging 28.0 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 10.9 assists this season, producing near triple-double numbers while anchoring the offense. Murray adds 25.4 points and 7.2 assists per game and remains Denver’s primary perimeter scorer.
The Nuggets enter the game with strong momentum. Denver has won nine straight contests and sits third in the Western Conference at 51–28.
Memphis has struggled during the same stretch. The Grizzlies have dropped five consecutive games and hold a 25–54 record, which eliminated them from playoff contention.
The teams have split their four-game season series so far, though Denver holds a 2–1 advantage entering Wednesday’s matchup.
