According to ESPN’s Jamal Collier, the Chicago Bulls ownership had already been weighing major changes to the front office for several weeks before ultimately making a move.
That urgency reportedly intensified after the team decided to trade for, and then quickly waive, Jaden Ivey.
While team executives stood by the evaluation work that went into acquiring Ivey, ownership raised concerns about how the situation was handled.
Collier also notes that Arturas Karnisovas and Marc Eversley were facing a “credibility problem” both across the league and among the fan base.
There were also broader internal issues. Collier reports a “growing disconnect” between the front office and multiple parts of the organization, not just ownership.
That lack of alignment became more apparent following the team’s trade deadline activity, where several veterans were moved in exchange for seven second-round picks, leaving many within the organization uncertain about the long-term direction.
“People didn’t know the plan,” one team source told ESPN on Monday. “They didn’t know the process. We needed to move on – with a clean slate and start this thing over.”
