With the Dallas Mavericks out of postseason contention, attention has shifted to players using the closing stretch of the season to boost their value ahead of contract decisions.
As Grant Afseth of Dallas Hoops Journal notes, forward Naji Marshall is one of those players, recently earning praise from head coach Jason Kidd while capping off what has been a career-best campaign before becoming extension-eligible this offseason.
Marshall is putting up 15.5 points per game, a new personal high, while shooting 51.6% from the field, also the best mark of his career.
The 28-year-old has also averaged 4.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.1 steals across 71 appearances, totaling 2,108 minutes played – second on the roster behind Cooper Flagg (2,132).
Beginning July 6, Marshall will be eligible to sign an extension of up to four years, with a maximum value reaching 140% of the league’s projected average salary.
While the exact number will be finalized once the new league year begins, current projections indicate he could land a deal worth around $92MM over four years.
