Isaiah Stewart has made progress in his recovery from a calf strain, as he has now been cleared to return to on-court basketball activities for the Detroit Pistons, according to Coty M. Davis of The Detroit News.
While this marks a positive development, the team is continuing to approach his recovery cautiously.
“He’s progressing,” coach J.B. Bickerstaff said. “It is something that we will take our time with, making sure he is right with the timing of everything.
“Every day when he takes a step, we evaluate and take another step the next day.”
There is still no official timeline for Stewart’s return to game action.
Due to the length of his absence, the defensive-focused big man will no longer be eligible for All-Defense honors this season.
Stewart has played 6 seasons for the Pistons. He has averaged 8.8 points and 6.8 rebounds in 362 regular-season games.
